This is an edible plant. The stems were eaten raw or cooked by the Okanagon, Yakama, and Thompson. The fresh or dried leaves were used as a spice, and the flowers, leaves, stems, and green fruits were used to make tea by the Okanagon. Seeds were used as insect repellent, perfume and medicine by the Yakama. The roots were also cooked and eaten.
