Douglas Spirea is a shrub that grows to be 3 to 4 feet in height. It's common environment is moist sunny areas. It is capable to withstand drought once it is established, but it grows very densely boggy areas, lake and stream banks, and in other areas with lots of moisture. The feature that most people recognize when they see Douglas Spirea is the tall spikes of clustered, tiny pink flowers, which grow on the ends of the branches.

The beautiful flowers of this plant attract butterflies, bees and other insects. When Douglas Spirea form dense thickets, it is a perfect hiding spot for small mammals, amphibians, and birds.

Douglas Spirea is a beautiful addition to any landscape. Once planted, Douglas Spirea only needs normal watering and the large beautiful clusters of tiny pinkish red flowers make it worth the time watering. The flowers will attract butterflies to your garden as well.
