Teasel is a biennial plant native to Europe and is now widespread in North America. Teasel is often found in moist areas and along irrigation ditches.
The seed germinates and the plant forms a broad rosette next to the soil during the first year of growth. The leaves are strongly veined. During the second year the plant flowers and dies. The flowering stem is striate-angled with down turned prickles or spines. Leaves on the flowering stem are in opposite pairs and are fused together at the base. Clint
