Kochia (Kochia scoparia) can be a problem weed for farmers in their cultivated fields, but Forage Kochia (K. prostrata) is being used to create greenstrips in fire prevention. K. scoparia has a sturdy stock with alternate branching, and reaches any where from 1 to 6 feet tall. Its flowers are inconspicuous and tightly hugging the axils of the leafs.
