Cheat grass has a finely divided, fibrous root system with an average of 7 main roots that grow rapidly, spreading laterally and vertically. It also grows rapidly but the amount of growth varies from year to year depending upon the amount of moisture that it recieves. It is a very adaptive plant and a nuisance.
